Lyrics
[Verse]
I woke up today wishing I was someone else
Took my consciousness away to escape myself
In this body now, I'm a prisoner
Mirages in the desert when I'm missing her
Love was a mirage but it's over now
Two stops into the town on the overground
Getting sober now, had a heart attack
I just lost my life but you brought it back
Random character select, I had no luck
Disconnect the smoke alarm when I show up
Love is a mirage, tee-shirt extra large
Two electric cars came out the garage
[Chorus]
But it's over now
Love was a mirage, but it's over now
Getting sober now
Love was a mirage, but it's over now
But it's over now
It's over now
Production
Much like his other early singles, Mirage was entirely self-produced by Ecco2k under the name Aloegarten using the iOS based DAW NanoStudio 1. The track uses a synth preset titled "Eden 1: A17 Distorted Voice" included with the software.
Music Video
The music video for Mirage was directed and edited by Ecco2k and uploaded on YouTube on March 11, 2014. The video was filmed in London, United Kingdom near the Old Street Roundabout.
A tweet from Ecco2K appeared to show a screenshot from Google Street View featuring himself in the process of filming the video, which many fans assumed to be real. However, the screenshot is an edited picture likely made by Ecco2k or someone involved in the video from a still of the footage, as evidenced by the fact that there was no Street View coverage at Old Street Roundabout in 2013 and that the screenshot shows an exact angle of Ecco2k that appears throughout the video.
