The g'LOSS for DrainGG Love Pill is a piece of jewelery released by the brand g'LOSS, in collaboration with the Swedish musical collective Drain Gang. It is a sterling silver pendant, released in a limited run of 175 pieces on July 26, 2018. The Love Pill is considered to be a piece of Drain Gang Merchandise.
Design
The Love Pill is designed by Ecco2k. It is a 925 sterling silver pendant, in the shape and design of Drain Gang's "Heart" logo, that came included with a 465mm stainless steel chain.
The pendant came sealed in a blister pack, with custom text printed and imprinted on either side, in a sealed cardboard box. The box was sealed with the 2018 edition of the Drain Sticky Barrier on the top, as well as the g'LOSS "authentication holo-seal" on the front. Other designs are printed on the box, intended to mimic the design of medication.
The left hand side of the box came stamped with a number out of 175, which was done by Ecco2k on an Instagram livestream in July 2018.
Background
The Love Pill was first teased by Ecco2k in July 2017, via a Snapchat post. The pendant can be seen in a video Ecco2k took during the photoshoot for the cover art of Don't Ask (Quick Slip).
Release
The Love Pill was made available for purchase on two separate occasions:
- Sample Release
- 26 sample pieces of the Love Pill were available for purchase directly from Ecco2k in New York City, during the early dates of the Fiend Tour, for a price of 50 USD. Interested buyers could send a direct message to Ecco2k, and pick up the pendant at Drain Gang's performances at Warsaw and Sex Magazine & YEAR0001 Presents: Drain Gang, as well as the Sadboysgear Pop-Up at VFILES. Unlike the final release, the sample pendants did not come with custom packaging, and featured a slightly less polished finish.
- Online Release
- The official release of the Love Pill was announced by Ecco2k on July 23, 2018. The pendant then saw its release via the g'LOSS official website on July 26, 2018, split into two separate batches: the first at 12:15, and the second at 22:00 CEST. The pendant was priced at 180 EUR, with a worldwide shipping rate of 20 EUR.
Impact
Since its tease on Snapchat, and especially following the sample release, the Love Pill instantly became highly sought after within the Drain Gang fanbase. The pendants popularity likely lead to the release of the g'LOSS Baby Love Pill v.2, as well as a possible upcoming higher stock re-release, teased by Ecco2k in September 2023 via Instagram.
